The health and safety of children should always be the number one priority of all educators and caregivers. Mistakes when administering medication can have serious consequences, and as a result, it is vital that we always practice high levels of care when giving children medication. 

All educators and guardians of children have a duty of care, a personal responsibility to care for children.  As part of that, we must support each other, and keep communication honest, open and transparent.

Documenting and recording incidents, illness or injury is part of being a responsible educator and caregiver.  This may include, where necessary, contacting our state’s childcare authority to report incidents of a serious nature.  The welfare of the children we care for must always be our number one priority.

This course covers knowledge relevant to the National Quality Standards – NQF Standard 2 – Children’s Health and Safety.  

The course also covers information relevant to Nationally Accredited units including CHCECE041: Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children and CHCEDS033: Meet legal and ethical requirements in an education support environment.

Upon completion you will be able to download your certificate. Learners can start, leave, and return the course as many times as they need and can save their answers as they go.
